Amado Angelito : Q + A

Hi everyone

Since I know many of you keep up to date with the latest news, could you please advise us whether there has been any progress with Amado Angelito's official DNA results, etc. I'm not quite sure how long it takes for DNA results in USA, and I wouldn't like to convey any incorrect information to our enquirers.

Also, several people have emailed me, asking how I formed my impression of Amado Angelito, and how accurate it is. You will note at this link http://eternal.prince.faithweb.com/contact.html, I have put together 'four basic steps' of how I compiled my impression of Amado Angelito - which is based entirely on his morgue photo. Since I am not a Forensic Artist, I cannot guarantee whether my impressions are accurate, or not - but only time will tell! Please note that my sketched impressions are by no means official.

However, Lois Gibson's (HPD Forensic Artist) official identikits may be found at http://www.unsolved-crimes.com/beloved.html . To read up on her interview with Houston Chronicle - http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5733283.html

Jose Bernardo Martinez

We are still working on this. Much has been donated to have baby Jose Bernardo re-buried. We are waiting on the father to sign papers with the victim advocacy group, choose where he wants the service and the burial. Then I can work with some folks on getting a plot for him. We already have someone willing to do a grave marker at no cost to us. That would allow us to buy a bench and either put it at the gravesite, or in a park in houston, or at the police department as a tribute to not only baby Jose Bernardo, but to the dedicated men that worked so long and so hard to solve his case.

Ideas anyone? sound good? Not good? If you have better ideas, let me know so we can start planning something. Send me an e=mail if you want to be involved, as I don't see the baby's family doing things like this. Would like to start work on the bench as soon as we can, so his story doesn't fade away.

Amado - possible CMV/Muscular Dystrophy?

After reading several articles re Dana Martinez' description of Jose aka Amado Angelito, it is natural for several, including myself, to conclude that Jose might have been suffering with a debilitating illness like Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ... or Symptomatic Congenital CMV at the time of his homicidal death in 2003. Hence his prosthetic ear, faded eyesight, soiled diaper he was found in (possible gastro intestinal problems and his dependancy on others), constant crying (frustration possibly), etc. I stand to be corrected since I am not qualified in this field.

Veronica, since you are the best qualified to answer this - being in the medical field and all - is it possible that there is any truth in this assumption?

The media also
insinuated about an 'illness' that Jose aka Amado might have suffered from without actually giving it a name...

Barbie, whenever you get the

Barbie, whenever you get the information on a fund for Jose, please post it up! I would love to help :)

Here is another bit of

Here is another bit of information on Amado / Jose. This is a story that was printed in the Chronicle when he was buried. Virginia, that is mentioned in the article, is the woman I have been speaking with for the last several months about our dear baby.

http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl?id=2004_3786660

She is working on having dear Jose re-buried at a private cemetery, with a new gravemarker. I will keep everyone updated as I know more information. So far, she has been able to get several things donated to make this happen. I am still going to open up a bank account for a memorial fund, and thought that if everything else was donated, we could use the funds to place a bench at his new gravesite. What does everyone think?

Barbie, that is wonderful!

The idea of an 'Amado bench' is such a lovely idea. It would be so wonderful if our angel could have a special resting place under the trees - where visitors could sit on his bench in the shade and listen to the birds, and the leaves rustling in the breeze.

Oh dear - ahem ... sorry, I'm rambling on again! Still, I love your idea! Also, a huge thanx to Virginia for caring so much about our precious baby angel. Amado would have loved her!
